Mercy’s Cardiac Care Network provides a sophisticated heart program offering state-of-the-art diagnostics to acute hospital care, world-class surgery, inpatient and outpatient cardiac rehab and education.
Advanced Tests for Accurate Diagnostics
In addition to standard testing, Mercy has a host of advanced diagnostic tools, each with advantages for gathering information about heart performance. Some of Mercy's cardiac services include:
- Electrocardiograms
- Holter monitoring
- Regular cardiac and pharmacological stress testing
- Echocardiography (Transthorasic, Transesophageal and Stress Echo)
- Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
- Cardiac rehabilitation
Mercy’s High-Quality Inpatient Care
Mercy Medical Center has a Cardiac Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit and Intermediate Care Unit (CCU, ICU and IMC). Each has a different level of monitoring and staffing to give the appropriate intensity of care for each patient's needs.
For surgery, Mercy links Western Massachusetts residents to the Lahey Clinic, one of the nation's top 100 cardiac centers* for open heart surgery, coronary bypasses, valvular surgery, angioplasties, stenting and electrophysiological studies of the heart’s electrical system.

To help the heart recover after illness or surgery, Weldon Rehabilitation Hospital has an extraordinary selection of services for inpatients and outpatients. Weldon offers home cardiac nursing. Weldon’s therapists, exercise physiologists and other specialists do more than guide your rehabilitation. They provide an overall educational and exercise program to help you make permanent, healthy lifestyle changes.
