Our mission is to heal.
Our passion is to care.

The Spirit of Giving in our Community

Sisters of Providence Health System is a nonprofit organization supported by the generosity of individuals, families and corporations to ensure continued excellence in:

  • Quality medical care
  • Long-term care
  • Behavioral health
  • Rehabilitation
  • Children's residential treatment and special education
  • Adoption services
  • Mental health and substance abuse counseling
  • Social services
  • Informational programs and services

Your financial or in-kind gift supports our commitment to being a transforming, healing presence within the communities we serve.

Today, your gift is more important than ever. Changes in government health care allocations have dramatically decreased the amount of funding previously available to health care providers. Meanwhile, patient care costs, cutting-edge technology, advanced medical equipment, public health educational materials, programs and services continue to drastically rise.

A contribution to Sisters of Providence Health System and its respective facilities and programs allows us to meet current needs, as well as anticipate and prepare for the future needs of our community. All gifts are tax-deductible and can be monetary, estate/financial properties or in-kind donations. You may also indicate how you would like your donation to be used, for example, to a specific facility, program or service.

All gifts donated to Sisters of Providence Health System are unique to the individual, family, group or foundation that has selected us as a source for charitable giving. All gifts share a common goal--to make our community stronger now and in the future. We will act as good stewards for all resources entrusted to us as we care for members of our community and strengthen our ministry.

Make a Gift

Tributary Giving
As a long-standing tradition, the Tributary Giving Program allows you to make a gift:

  • As a tribute to a community service volunteer
  • In memory of a loved one or dear friend
  • Wishing speedy recovery
  • Sending birthday wishes
  • Commemorating a special occasion

An acknowledgment letter will be sent to the next of kin or honoree designated. Click here for The Spirit of Giving tribute gift form.

Matching Gift Program
If your company has a matching gift program, you can multiply your gift! Check with your Human Resources Department to learn more about the matching gift program available to you. Then, mail your company's gift form with you contribution.

Employee Campaign
Sisters of Providence Health System employees contribute over $50,000 through the Annual Employee Campaign for special purchases enabling employees to better meet the needs of those they serve and enhance direct care and service.

Major Gifts Campaign
Sisters of Providence Health System is a charity of choice in our local community. Our Special Family of Friends contribute gifts from $5,000 - $100,000 plus. We offer unique and attractive recognition, designed to meet the donor's interest, including the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy.

In 2005, our Major Gifts Campaign funded major facility renovations and program expansions at Mercy Medical Center, Providence Behavioral Health Hospital and Brightside for Families and Children.

Planned Giving
Please join other members of our community, a long-standing tradition, by dedicating a planned gift, through a designation in your will, charitable trust, charitable gift annunity, a life insurance policy or gift or real estate. You can participate in the Mission of the Sisters of Providence Health System by leaving a lasting legacy, demonstrating your commitment to the health care needs of our community now and well into the future, while taking advantage of important tax benefits.

Foundation Grants
The Foundation Grant program seeks funds from private and corporate foundations.

In 2005, funds were received for:

  • Telecommunications and internet services for Brightside Families and Children
  • Funding the Uninsured through the Healthcare for the Homeless Program
  • Upgrading facilities and client services areas at Brightside's School Street Program
  • A Wireless Communication System at Mercy Medical Center

Get Involved

Regardless of the level or type of commitment, we are grateful to the many individuals, companies and organizations that have given their time and resources to ensure our continuum of care.

Brightside Golf Classic
For over 28 years, the Brightside Golf Classic has been one of the largest and most prestigious golf tournaments in the region. Taking place on three major golf courses, funds from this event are generated through individual player’s fees, raffles, a live auction, and sponsorship from local, regional and national businesses. It is a special day where the banking and business community meet to help children and families in our community.

Brightside Angel Campaign
Each year hundreds of volunteers, churches and businesses join in the spirit of holiday giving by supporting the Brightside Angel Campaign to raise over $100,000 annually. Thousands of visitors support Brightside with their purchases of “paper angels” and other products at local churches, O’Connell’s Convenience Plus stores, the Holyoke Mall and the Mercy Medical Center Lobby between Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition, local businesses provide support through four levels of sponsorship.

Gift of Light Program
The Gift of Light Program at Mercy Medical Center and Farren Care Center is a special giving opportunity for community members to remember or honor loved ones or dear friends with the purchase of one or more holiday lights at both campuses. Funds from Mercy's Gift of Light Program supports Mercy's Cancer Support Program for cancer survivors, their caregivers and loved ones. Farren Care Center's Gift of Light Program enhances their residents' programs and services that would not otherwise be possible. Honorees names are displaybed throughout the month of December, with a special tree lighting ceremony on both campuses. An acknowledgement card will be sent in honor or in memory of your loved ones to the individuals designated.
